Israeli troops clash with Palestinians dressed as Santa Claus in Bilin.
Israeli troops have clashed with Palestinians and peace activists protesting Israeli aggression and the illegal apartheid wall across the occupied West Bank.

Clashes erupted on Friday when Israeli forces opened fire on around 80 Palestinian and Israeli activists who were protesting peacefully in the village of Bilin.

The activists, some dressed as Santa Claus since it was Christmas Eve, were protesting against the apartheid wall being built by Israel in the occupied West Bank, The Telegraph reported.

There have been no reports of any casualties.

Israel is building a 400-mile system of fences and concrete walls in and around the occupied West Bank. Most Palestinians view the West Bank apartheid wall as another Israeli land grab.

Tel Aviv began construction of the wall in 2000.

However, the International Court of Justice has ruled that the apartheid wall is illegal and should be dismantled.

Another demonstration was held in the Silwan neighborhood of East al-Quds (Jerusalem) on Friday.

Palestinian residents and Israeli and international activists hold weekly protests every Friday, chanting slogans against the apartheid wall, illegal settlements, the arrests of Palestinians, and the constant attacks against the residents of East al-Quds (Jerusalem) and their homes.

Palestinians believe that the expansion of the illegal settlements on their occupied lands will make the establishment of a Palestinian state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip difficult.

Israel captured East al-Quds during the Six-Day War of 1967 and later annexed, but the move has never been recognized by the international community. In addition, the construction of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories is illegal under international law.
