Palestinian Prisoners « 63 Years Occupation is Enough |

The Islamist Hamas movement which controls Gaza said on April 13 that it would insist on a high price in any prisoner exchange for captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit who was captured in a deadly cross-border raid from Gaza in June 2006. Ezzat al-Risheq, a member of the movement's politburo in exile, said in a statement that some 8,200 Palestinian prisoners remain in Israeli jails, 30 of them women and 400 of them children.
