NABLUS, (PIC)-- Real danger is threatening the life of detainee Akram Mansour after he contracted cancer four years ago due to deliberate medical neglect on the part of the Israeli prisons authority (IPA), the Tadamum (solidarity) institution for human rights said on Saturday.

Ahmed Al-Beitawi, a researcher with Tadamun, said that Mansour, who has been held in Israeli occupation jails for 32 years, is one of the oldest serving Palestinian prisoners.

He added that the IPA ignored his health condition, claiming that he only suffered from an enlarged bone in the head, which later on turned to be cancer.

Beitawi said that Mansour recently started to suffer from fainting and unconsciousness for long hours along with partial amnesia in addition to severe head pain.

The researcher noted that the Askalan prison administration asked him to appeal for his release, which is a surprising step on the part of the administration and which points to the seriousness of his condition.

He said that the situation in the prison was uptight and the prisoners were holding the administration fully responsible for the life of Mansour while demanding his immediate release especially when he has only four years left to complete his 36 years sentence.
