Asian Campaign to End Siege in Gaza to arrive in Damascus - FOCUS Information Agency

Damascus. An aid convoy initiated by several Asian countries calling for an end to the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip, is expected to arrive in Syrian capital Damascus on Monday, Beshreldien al-Sarqi, representative of the convoy said Saturday, Xinhua informed.

"The occupation of Palestine must end. Gaza has been turned into a vast open-air-prison-cum-concentration camp for its 1.5 million inhabitants," Al-Sharqi from the Asian Campaign to End Siege in Gaza said.

The campaign creates a platform to demand justice for the Palestinians, Al-Sharqi told a press conference in the Palestinian Yarmouk refugees camp near Damascus.

The Asian campaign was established in the Indian capital of New Delhi in November, aiming at delivering 1,000 tons of food and medical aids to the people in Gaza. The convoy consists of people form India, Bahrain, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Japan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, Bangladesh and Nepal.

The convoy is also to go to Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and ultimately through the Rafah Crossing into the Gaza Strip.
