MADRID, (PIC)-- A memorial commemorating the martyrs on board the Gaza-bound Freedom Flotilla, which was lethally attacked by Israeli troops late last May, was unveiled Saturday evening near the Spanish capital of Madrid. The ceremony was attended by three activists on board the flotilla, Turkish Ambassador to Spain Ender Arat, Palestinian Ambassador Moussa Odeh, and Leganes mayor Rafael Gomez Montoya, alongside IHH Turkish aid fund head Ahmed Amin Dag and representatives from the civil society organizations in Spain. Sculpted by Roxana Robinson and Arefali Bitita, the memorial depicts a collapsed wall representing occupied Palestine and an innocent child holding on the Marmara Blue ship and placing it in the water. Speaking at the event, IHH head Ahmed Amin Dag said the siege on the Gaza Strip was not a Turkish problem, but a problem the world over. Spanish activists are gearing to launch two ships to the bust the Gaza siege spring of 2011. |
