Six Palestinians are injured in clashes with Israeli forces in the West Bank as the occupied territories mark the second anniversary of Tel Aviv's devastating war on Gaza.
Hundreds of Palestinians and foreign activists gathered near the West Bank city of Ramallah on Monday to hold an anti-Israeli demonstration, a Press TV correspondent reported.
The crowd was protesting Israeli settlement expansions in the West Bank and the continued building of a separation wall in the occupied territories which further annexes Palestinian farmland.
The peaceful demonstration turned violent when Israeli soldiers attacked the crowd and clashed with the activists.
Six demonstrators were injured in the violence. Among them was one Palestinian who was reportedly in serious condition after being hit by a tear gas canister.
Earlier on Monday, Israeli forces used force to disperse protesters in the illegally annexed East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
They fired tear gas at Palestinian demonstrators in the city's flashpoint Silwan neighborhood, which is the scene of frequent clashes between the Palestinian majority in the neighborhood and Israeli soldiers and extremist settlers.
The area has become a hub of tensions fueled by Tel Aviv's decision to evict scores of Palestinians from their homes to build a so-called archeological park.
Israel occupied East al-Quds in the Six-Day War in 1967 and later annexed it in a move never recognized by the international community.
