BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) -- Dozens of demonstrators inhaled tear gas which was fired at them by Israeli forces during peaceful marches around the West Bank on Friday, onlookers said.

A demonstration in Al-Ma’sara, near Bethlehem, was launched from a school in the village toward the separation wall. Israeli forces were waiting at the entrance of the village and shot tear gas and stun grenades toward the crowds.

Forces detained an international activist while he was participating in the demonstration.

In Ni’lin, near Ramallah, a demonstration was launched near the separation wall. Demonstrators held Palestinian flags and called for unity. The soldiers shot tear gas and stun grenades toward them, which injured several people.

Six demonstrators were hurt -- one in serious condition and an international activist who was injured by a tear gas grenade -- when Israeli forces dispersed the An-Nabi Saleh demonstration west of Ramallah.

The forces tried to close the entrances of the village to forbid journalists and internationals from accessing it. Forces also imposed curfew on the village and announced it as a closed military zone.

Some residents from neighboring villages and internationals managed to reach the village through bypass roads in the mountains and held the demonstration with villagers after the Friday prayers.

Israeli forces fired gas grenades, rubber and metal bullets toward the demonstrators. The forces raided the village and targeted two houses. Abdul Ilah and his wife were used as human shields so the demonstrators would not throw stones.
